Today at 5:15 PM, CPU is kicking off its CPU Evenings! At CPU Evenings, the Central Processing Committee meets to work on various small projects where you can try out all sorts of things within technology—everything from simple web design to system configuration and firewall rules. It doesn't matter if you have no prior experience; EVERYONE who is curious is welcome. We provide food for everyone who attends and works.
👨💻 How do CPU Evenings work?
First, we meet at 5:15 PM downstairs in iDét for a small joint kick-off meeting. There, those of us who lead CPU will help find something suitable for everyone to work on. A first task might be, for example, downloading the code for our website and learning how to run it on your own computer. We have some more experienced members—Developers—who will be there to help and answer questions. After a couple of hours of work, we'll take a break together to eat dinner.
😳 "I don't know much, can I still come?"
Absolutely! That's the whole point of CPU Evenings: to have fun together and learn something new. We in CPU are just happy to show off what we are working on to someone new, so swing by and give it a try! We work hard to make it easy to get started with us, and if you're curious, there's some information on our page.
😎 "Can I work on my own projects?"
We think it's great if you want to run your own project! If it's something related to the section's operations, come and discuss it with us, and maybe we can put together a small team to work on it together. If it's something entirely of your own, you are very welcome to come and bounce ideas off us. Unfortunately, we must prioritize providing food for those who attend and help out with our projects.
